kuiEcclesiastes 3:1

” There is a time for everything,  and a season for every activity under heaven.”

Unfortunately for these two, they are going to have to wait a while.

Know God. Know Love. For Me. To Focus on You.

After a receiving one on one time with God, I felt Him speaking to me about different areas in my life and my past as well. The main word I got was “FOCUS.” Then I got inspired to write about “true love waits” and “true love prepares.” So, I hope over this “love” series, you learn not to rush into relationships. If we prepare for love, it’ll be well more than worth the wait.

I recall the last time I was single. At that moment in time, I was focused. Focused on school, friends, and not searching for a girlfriend or anything. Then poop, God blessed me with someone that I was able to spend years with. Even though things did not work out, I learned a lot including the focus to make Him first in my life.

If we focus on Him and on His ways, I know that He’ll bless us abundantly. That is why I will continue to trust in Him and we will give me the desires of my heart. God knows my wants and my desires, heck He knows everyone’s. But to fully grasp what He has for us, we must be obedient to Him.

What are a few of my heart’s desires? First and foremost, I want a mighty woman of God. I want her to seek Him to find my heart. I want her to encourage me, pray with me, share bible verses with me, hold me accountable, keep no records of wrong and when we fight, be able to wipe the slate clean after we are able to forgive each other and not bring it up anymore.

I don’t want temporary. I want to live my life to glorify and honor Him. A servant can not serve two masters, and Lord, I choose you over the world because You’re all I need.

1 Peter 1:13-15

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.”

Song of Solomon 2:7

“Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.”

Addendum to the “true love waits” post.

So, we were thinking, you wait for true love, but you aren’t really waiting. For an illustration, think of waiting in line to order at Zippy’s. You wait in line to order your food and then wait again for it to be served to you. But, what are you doing while you are waiting? Are you sitting down, staring into space or are you getting ready for your meal? Meaning, getting the fork, knife, napkins, putting the Tabasco into a little container. Then when we get our food, we can go and eat rather than going back and forth because we forgot to prepare the things we need.

The same is what God wants us to do. To find the one, we need to be the one.

He wants to prepare ourselves by focusing and seeking on Him and His word to make the most we have of that time of singleness. God called us not to be idle but to use our talents to glorify Him and advance His kingdom.

He wants us to prepare because as the man in the relationship, God wants us to be a strong leader for our companion. We also need to work on the junk that is in us so we don’t bring that baggage into our relationship. What baggage you may ask? Hmm.. think of all the bad stuff that you had in previous relationships or things you need to work on. It may be jealousy, insecurity, anger issues, pride, lust, hygiene and the list goes on and on.

We need to rid ourselves of the baggage so that when you do get into a relationship, you don’t bring those in because they can poison and toxify the bond the two of you share.

You can wait forever and not prepare, but when you get to your turn in line, it’s not going to feel right. Love in it’s deepest form is discipline.

1 Corinthians 14:4-7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Song of Solomon 2:7

“Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.”

True Love waits…Real Love moves in silence. No it’s not out of a movie or a fairy tale, it’s legit.

What is love? Well, it’s defined as emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong feeling and attachment. As Humans, we constantly yearn for that somebody and a lot of times people start relationships that they should they either are not ready or for the wrong reasons.

In the most famous of love verses in 1 Corinthians 14, the first verse is “Love is patient.” Most people don’t know what that means because it’s so difficult to wait.

When we want something, we want it right away.  Instead, God calls us to wait and not stir love until it so desires. Wait on God’s timing and not our own. Remember, the right thing at the wrong time is still the wrong thing.

In my heart I believe that true love really does WAIT but sometimes emotions and romance get’s the best of us and we can’t wait. It’s very important for people to realize that it’s more than waiting, it’s waiting on when God says you are ready waiting on GOD’s timing and not our own. That is truly the most difficult part because who doesn’t desire true love? The only way we can ever get it, is if we wait on God.

Yes, waiting isn’t easy. One of man’s downfall is immediate gratificationand the desire to get whatever it is we want as soon as possible and not be filled until we get it. However, when we do wait, we have an amazing opportunity to grow and fall in love with God. That’s why faith is so important. God knows the desires of our heart and in due time, will reward us if we walk a long the righteous path.

If we wait, it will be that much “better” when we do enter that relationship. In the end, gonna say that you’re the one and that my search is done.

Joshua 1:9

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

1 Corinthians 16:13-14

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.”

When I think of courage, I think of Dave’s walk with God and his ability to discern right and wrong due to his convictions.

Courage is doing what is right, no matter what the consequences. It is the quality of mind and spirit that enables a person to face difficulty and danger without fear and with faith.

Winston Churchhill once said “one ought never to turn one’s back on a threatened danger and try to run  away from it. if you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything.”

A lot of courage is taken with our faith and walk with God. No matter where you are with your relationship with God, there will be temptations that attack you from all areas of life. It may come from a boy or girl getting you into a situation you know you shouldn’t be in or your friends telling you to go out and do things you know are wrong by your convictions.

The defining moment and test of our faith is whether we stand strong and courageous during those moments and choose the right thing to do, even at times it may seem very difficult.
