waiting11 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Song of Solomon 2:7

“Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.”

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. We like to think we are in control, but we aren’t. Everything is done on God’s timing. Relationships, jobs, careers, advancement, everything. On the subject of relationships.

Love waits and prepares until it is ready…Real Love moves in silence. No it’s not out of a movie or a fairy tale, it’s legit.

What is love? Well, it’s defined as emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong feeling and attachment. As Humans, we constantly yearn for that somebody and a lot of times people start relationships that they should they either are not ready or for the wrong reasons.

In the most famous of love verses in 1 Corinthians 14, the first verse is “Love is patient.” Most people don’t know what that means because it’s so difficult to wait.

When we want something, we want it right away.  Instead, God calls us to wait and not stir love until it so desires. Wait on God’s timing and not our own. Remember, the right thing at the wrong time is still the wrong thing.

In my heart I believe that true love really does WAIT but sometimes emotions and romance get’s the best of us and we can’t wait. It’s very important for people to realize that it’s more than waiting, it’s waiting on when God says you are ready waiting on GOD’s timing and not our own. That is truly the most difficult part because who doesn’t desire true love? The only way we can ever get it, is if we wait on God.

Yes, waiting isn’t easy. One of man’s downfall is immediate gratification and the desire to get whatever it is we want as soon as possible and not be filled until we get it. However, when we do wait, we have an amazing opportunity to grow and fall in love with God. That’s why faith is so important. God knows the desires of our heart and in due time, will reward us if we walk a long the righteous path.

If we wait, it will be that much “better” when we do enter that relationship. In the end, gonna say that you’re the one and that my search is done.

2 Timothy 2:3-4

“Endure suffering along with me, as a good solider of Christ Jesus.  Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.”

Like soldiers, we need to put aside the obstacles to our spiritual growth-our dependency, our pursuit of pleasure, our denial.

There will be times where we grow weary and want to quit. We will experience pain, fear and a host of other emotions. We will win some battles but lose others in the war to achieve wholeness. We may get discouraged at times when we can’t see any progress, even though we have been working hard. However, if we persevere through it all, we can maintain the ground we have gained.

Like a soldier, we are in a war that we can only win if we fight to the end.

I learned that it’s not worth it giving up for what what you fought for. I remember God speaking to me through this quote in the Purpose Driven Life, “Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go.”

Pretty self explanatory huh? We should not dwell on our difficulties and problems, but be thankful of how far we’ve come with God.

WE all have to learn how to live our lives with everyday challenges.

“Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live.”-Proverbs 9:6

The hard way out may be difficult and impatient, but hey, it’s all worth it: God acknowledges the difficulties we face, but He also promises us victory in the end. God is determined not to give up on us. We are much stronger than we think we are. We can always rely on His unfailing love and He also promises to keep working on us until we are whole. With His help and strength, we can handle anything thrown our way.

And remember brothers and sisters, God keeps His promises. You’re not fighting alone.

Mark 10:43-45g

“whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”"

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

The  Muscular Dystrophy Association Soiree was held Saturday, April 18 at the Royal Hawaiian. It was a charity event that I and twenty other awesome people from Grace Bible Church volunteered at in order to raise funds in finding a cure for patients who have muscular dystrophy. For six hours hours or so, teams of us were split into the silent auction, food booths,  selling balloons and asking for donations.

Serving and volunteering are important in building unity and allowing yourself to grow. It provides an opportunity for us to see our world in a different perspective, gain exposure to new situations, and make a difference in other people’s lives. Since a lot of us deal with pride, serving gives you the opportunity to help other people instead of focusing on yourself.

But perhaps the greatest attribute about serving is the ability to use the gifts God gave us to show His love towards others. Jesus served with love and compassion for others. Above all that He did and stood for, He had a servant’s heart and that is something that we need to instill in our lives as well.

At the end of the night, all of us were blessed. Not only were we able to serve at the soiree, we were blessed with a suite at the Sheraton, free food, but we grew(relational wise) with each other and spiritual through conversations and worship.

God is good, all the time. And all the time ,God is good.

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”

This picture really inspired me about today’s message.

Temptation is not a sin. It is if we act upon those temptations in an unrighteous way, then we sin.

I think of our sin as rain drops. When it first starts to rain, it rains one drop at a time. We feel nothing of the impact that they have on us because they are so small and we think nothing of it. Then it starts raining harder to the point where what started as harmless drops of water  now turn puddles and can cause rivers to overflow. Once the rivers overflow, they cause flooding and destruction.

Don’t get me wrong, we sin everyday. I can’t keep track of how many times I sin per day. Every time we give in to sin, we compromise of walk with God. What might seem as a harmless act can eventually lead to death. Like it says in the verse above “sin, when full grown, gives birth to death.”

Let’s think of some real life examples. So you are hanging out and you see a beautiful looking girl/guy and you take a few extra looks and have dirty thoughts about that person (lust). You think nothing of it at first and the two of you decide to hang out. As the two of you hang out more, the temptation of sexual desire lingers and you drop your spiritual and physical boundries because you have been blinded by sin. Since you can’t stop those raging hormones and are unable to stop the temptation, the two of you fornicate (have sex before marriage). BAM..the little drop that started as lust developed in sex and death to your spiritual life.

The awesome thing is that God made us to be overcomers. With Him, all thing are possible. Overcoming any type of sin, temptation, tribulation, it can be done through Him and Him alone.

A new segment focusing on those who are using their spiritual gifts to glorify God and advance His kingdom

1 Corinthians 14:12

“Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.”

Colossians 4:17

“Pay attention to the ministry you have received in the Lord, so that you can accomplish it.”

This segment’s feature

Lawrence U. Tabudlo. Worship leader of All Nations Church.

Why do you enjoy and do praise and worship?

I love praise and worship because I get to express my love for Christ and lead people into the presence of God. Worship sets the soil so that the seed in the message can be planted in their congregation’s hearts. The seed needs to be planted not in rocky, bad soil but in a strong fertile soil that invites them into God’s presence. When I’m leading, I’m really focused on the audience of One, God.

What made you want to become a worship leader?

While I was in the youth ministry, we did worship through cds because there was no worship team. It was hard to allow the spirit to sow in me because you cant extend chorus and instrumentals and are restricted to allow the Holy spirit to soak into you.

At first, it was just me at the end of every message. It’s all of God’s gifts that allowed me to learn to play the guitar and sing. I thank the Lightrays youth ministry that improved my heart of worship. After I started to lead worship, I wanted to encourage and raise up worship leaders and then the formation of our band zero43 became a reality. The band consist of youth and my goal for them is to eventually lead the youth worship by themselves.

Give us a shout out.

Remain in Him so He will remain in you.

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Less of me, more of You.

You ever feel like you didn’t know where you going in life? Ever feel stuck, depressed and lived with that sense that no matter what you did, you were never satisfied? Oh, how it feels to be lost. The solution: Trust in Him.

Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart. Not just with some of it or when you need Him. God doesn’t want to be treated like a genie. We should look to Him in all areas of life, good and bad alike.

Lean NOT on your own understanding. We all have pride, some of us more than others. We need to humble ourselves and let God take over. Remember when we were in control of what we wanted in life, most times, we were left with that sense of emptiness that the world could never satisfy. If we let God in with our entire heart, He’ll satisfy the voids that the world could only do temporarily.

How do we trust Him? Isn’t it hard?

For me, it came down to trusting God, acknowledging Him and believing He would direct my path.  That’s exactly what He did and the way things have worked out for me have been better than I had imagined.  It’s hard to trust, but as we do and as we see God work in our lives, it becomes easier and easier to follow Him. How do our paths get straightened out? By growing in a relationship with Him and indulging in His word, we learn to straighten our  paths to the road of righteousness.  We no longer yearn to do the things we liked doing before we accepted Jesus because we no know that the temptations of the world can look so good, but it’s not worth compromising our spiritual lives.

resMatthew 28:1-7

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.5The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

Easter Sunday. A  time to give praise and thanks for Jesus that litterally took the sins and burdens of the world and made them His own.

He which was perfect was made to walk among the imperfect. To give us hope and a future that we no longer need to be slaves to sin. 2 Corinthians  says “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” It all started at the cross and our decision to make Him Lord and savior and to make Him number one in our lives.

At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There’s no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now

crossMatthew 27:32-55

(The Message Bible)

The Crucifixion of Jesus

27-31The soldiers assigned to the governor took Jesus into the governor’s palace and got the entire brigade together for some fun. They stripped him and dressed him in a red toga. They plaited a crown from branches of a thornbush and set it on his head. They put a stick in his right hand for a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mocking reverence: “Bravo, King of the Jews!” they said. “Bravo!”

35-40After they had finished nailing him to the cross and were waiting for him to die. Above his head they had posted the criminal charge against him: this is Jesus, the king of the Jews. Along with him, they also crucified two criminals, one to his right, the other to his left. People passing along the road jeered, shaking their heads in mock lament: “You bragged that you could tear down the Temple and then rebuild it in three days—so show us your stuff! Save yourself!

45-46 Around mid-afternoon Jesus groaned out of the depths, crying loudly, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”

50But Jesus, again crying out loudly, breathed his last.

51-53At that moment, the Temple curtain was ripped in two, top to bottom. There was an earthquake, and rocks were split in pieces.

54The captain of the guard and those with him said, “This has to be the Son of God!”

The greatest gift that anyone can ever know. He overcame the cross and through His death, died for the forgiveness of man’s sins to make the burden His own. You can either die with Christ through faith and also share in his resurrection, freed from sin at last, or you can die without Christ and go before the judgment seat of God with all your sins completely and permanently attached to you for all time. The Bible says the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.
